The Secrets to Weight Loss Success

Most people already know what they “should” be doing to lose weight.  The problem is that simply knowing what to do is not enough.  The people who achieve permanent weight loss success make a “mental shift” and learn to consistently act on what they already know.

 

In my experience, for a weight loss program to be successful (i.e. produce permanent results) it must include three key elements:

 

1. It must promote a God centered perspective.   Many people falsely believe the only way to start feeling better about themselves – or to feel worthy as a person - is to lose weight.  This assumption leads to two major problems:  First, weight loss doesn’t bring immediate results.  This causes many people to give up long before they meet their goal.  Second, weight loss doesn’t automatically yield a positive self-image.  This is one reason permanent weight loss is often not achieved.  Many people associate thinness with happiness and self-acceptance, which only leads to disappointment and a return to old, bad habits when dieters discover “thin” does not always equal “happy.”

 

The Secrets to Weight Loss Success shows you how to start changing your current perspective.  By realizing you are God’s creation and learning how to take practical steps to gain confidence in your Creator, you will learn how to actively seek happiness in Christ instead of passively awaiting its arrival.  Knowing your identity in Christ, no matter what you weigh, is a key ingredient to living a happy and successful life.

 

2. It must produce an attitude adjustment or “mental shift.”  Weight loss success requires a winning attitude.  It means consistently believing in the power of possibilities.  If you expect to win, with God’s grace, you will.  Without this “mental shift,” a person never makes a true commitment to losing weight and will continue on a journey of one failed diet after another.

 

The Secrets to Weight Loss Success teaches the art of cheerful optimism and persistence by learning to trust in God.  It shows how to change your internal belief system to have faith in the seemingly impossible. 

 

3. It must develop a winning nutrition and fitness plan.  The problem with many weight loss programs is that they act as a one-size-fits all.  Unfortunately, each person is different and what works for one person may not necessarily work for another.  To develop a winning plan, the basics of good nutrition and fitness must be tailored to fit individual needs.

The common misconception is that weight loss is all about willpower and one’s ability to pass on dessert.  Actually, permanent weight loss is much more than that.  You must “first clean the inside… and then the outside will also be clean.”   Anyone can achieve weight loss success.  It’s simply a matter of applying the right principles, both on the inside and out.
